A MiratecArts apresentou a sétima edição do Azores Fringe - festival internacional de artes com o mote "uma explosão artística dos Açores para o mundo", tocando nas 9 ilhas com programação para todas as idades e gostos.
Terry Costa, diretor artístico e fundador, expressou que esta edição foi a mais concorrida e participada, com uma audiência que ultrapassou as 5 mil pessoas, nas 9 ilhas dos Açores, mas também foi a menos apoiada pelas instituições regionais e municipais. "Estamos a remar pelas ilhas, quase literalmente" disse Terry Costa, na apresentação da nova peça de arte e também novo espaço de performance, o Palco LUX, que agora tem casa na MiratecArts Galeria Costa, depois de uma intervenção da pintora Andreia Sousa.
O Encontro & Expedição Fotográfica aconteceu na Graciosa, Pedras Negras deu um saltinho às Flores, +Arte Corvo continuou na ilha mais pequena, Arte Viva ficou por São Miguel, Atelier de Kaasfabriek foi o ponto central em São Jorge e a Biblioteca Pública da Horta no Faial, enquanto todas as ilhas receberam shorts@fringe a ilha do Pico continua a ser o epicentro deste que é o maior festival de expressão artística na região.

7 Years paddling the Fringe shore
MiratecArts presented the seventh edition of Azores Fringe - the international arts festival with the motto "an artistic explosion from the Azores to the world", presented on all 9 islands with programming for all ages and tastes.
Terry Costa, artistic director and Azores Fringe founder, said this edition was the most attended and participated, with an audience that surpassed 5,000 people in the 9 islands of the Azores. But, it was also less supported by regional and municipal institutions. "We are paddling around the islands, almost literally," said Terry Costa at the presentation of a new art piece and performance space, LUX Stage, by painter Andreia Sousa, at MiratecArts Galeria Costa.
A Photography Meeting & Expedition took place in Graciosa, the writers’ encounter Pedras Negras hopped to Flores this year, +Arte Corvo continued on the smallest island, Arte Viva was in São Miguel, Atelier de Kaasfabriek was the central point of Fringe in São Jorge, and the Horta Public Library showcased photography and film in Faial. All the islands received shorts@fringe and the island of Pico remained the epicenter of the largest festival of artistic expression in the region.
Há Fringe em São Jorge
O Atelier de Kaasfabriek acolheu mais uma série de eventos no mês de junho, enquadrado no Azores Fringe Festival. Liderado por Pieter & Rini Adriaans, a fábrica de queijo tornada centro de artes, na freguesia de Santo António, está cada vez mais vibrante.
Fotografia de Jorge Blayer Góis, pintura de José Pedro e parte do espólio de Pieter Adriaans completam a exposição que pode ser visitada durante o verão. Música compôs os programas públicos com a participação de vários grupos incluindo Tocadores da Casa do Povo de Norte Grande, Luis Melro, Novos Flamengos, Tocadores de Viola da Terra de São Jorge, Os Corações de São Jorge e ainda Pieter Adriaans e os Amigos de Improvizo.
There is Fringe in São Jorge
The Atelier de Kaasfabriek hosted another series of events in June for Azores Fringe Festival. Led by Pieter and Rini Adriaans, the former cheese factory-turned-art center in the parish of Santo António grows increasingly vibrant with art each year.
Photography by Jorge Blayer Góis, paintings by José Pedro, and part of the estate of Pieter Adriaans makes up an exhibition that can be visited during the summer. Music also comprised public programs with the participation of several musicians, including the Norte Grande Group, Luis Melro, Novos Flamengos, the Viola Players of São Jorge island, the Hearts of São Jorge, and Pieter Adriaans and Friends of Improvizo.
Biblioteca Pública da Horta é Fringe
O Cineclube do Faial apresentou várias sessões do shorts@fringe no Auditório da Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional da Horta. E a própria Biblioteca foi a anfitriã da exposição "Açores em Fotografia" na Sala Polivalente. Aqui houve Fringe com atividades direcionadas para o público mais jovem e a fotografia, e, para um público mais adulto, o cinema. As fotos de Davide Sousa, Jaime deBrum e Pedro Silva, depois de uma viagem ao Canadá chegaram de novo a casa, agora disponíveis para viajar inter-ilhas.
Foi na Biblioteca Pública da Horta que se fez convívio através das artes, entre os livros e a história. O Fringe é assim: uma caldeirada de atividades e oportunidades para o mundo artístico, local e estrangeiro se expressar, criando uma explosão artística dos Açores para o mundo.
Horta’s Public Library is Fringe
The city of Horta was also the scene of Azores Fringe, with the Faial Cineclube presenting several sessions of shorts@fringe in the Auditorium of the Horta Public Library. The Library also hosted the "Azores in Photography" exhibition, featuring the work of Davide Sousa, Jaime deBrum and Pedro Silva, whose photography arrived back home after a trip to Canada, and will soon head on some inter-island travel. Fringe activities aimed at younger audiences took place during the exhibition’s opening, while cinema for mature audiences was enjoyed in the evening.
It was in the Public Library of Horta, between books and history, that audiences became acquainted with the arts. Fringe is like this, a melting pot of activities and opportunities for the cultural world, local and foreign, to express itself, creating an artistic explosion from the Azores to the world.
